After an enormously disappointing season in 2009, when the team's racecar only went the distance once all year, the decision was taken to return to a naturally aspirated V8 engine in 2010. The unit of choice for RML AD Group was the Honda Performance Development 3.4 litre LM-V8.

The engine came with an exception record, based upon a series of successful seasons in the ALMS. In 2009, the LM-V8 powered Acura ARX-01 recorded

seven pole positions and eight wins from ten starts, finishing on the podium in every race. Tommy's first experience of the V8-powered Lola came in pre-season testing at Paul Ricard in March 2010, and earned the combination a resounding thumbs-up. The team is now looking forward to a more reliable year and the prospect of better results.
