In late 2008 RML and AD Group signed a deal with Mazda for the supply of an AER-developed 2-litre turbocharged engine to power the Lola B08/80 chassis that had first appeared, in MG EX265C guise, at the final Le Mans Series race of 2008, where it finished fourth.

The car was upgraded over the winter of 2008/9 to include the latest aerodynamic and bodywork

 
 

package and re-designated a Lola Mazda B08/86. The car made its debut in Round 1 of the 2009 Le Mans Series at Barcelona, and was the team's entry for the Le Mans 24 Hours in June 2009, when Tommy and Mike were joined by Chris Dyson.
