Front Row For Tommy In FIA GT

It was an encouraging weekend for Buckinghamshire-based Thomas Erdos in last weekend's FIA GT Championship meeting at Anderstorp in Sweden.

After a difficult start to the season, plagued with development and reliability issues, the Graham Nash Motorsport squad has been showing much improved form of late. Their Swedish awayday saw the team's Saleen S7R truly competitive for the first time all year, with a front-row in qualifying from the talented Brazilian. This gave Erdos the best possible start in the three-hour endurance race, and all went well for the first stint until an unfortunate incident with one of the front-running Lister Storms sent Thomas spinning into the gravel.

Testing
The engineers had been working hard on refining the car's set-up before heading out to Scandinavia. Pressed for time, however, they were relying on the meeting's two free-practice sessions to fine-tune their work ahead of qualifying and the race, but things didn't go exactly to plan. No sooner had Erdos started to make his move from the pitlane for the first Friday test and he was coasting to a halt. “I encountered a water temperature problem immediately I left the pitlane,” he explained. “I had to switch off the engine to avoid it overheating and blowing up. I managed to stop near the pitlane entry and the mechanics were able to push me back into the garage.”
